American Muslims Condemn the New Zealand Attacks

Islamic leaders offer condolence to the affected families and reject acts of terrorism!

In the name of God Most Gracious Most Merciful

American Muslim Community Center in Longwood, Florida today issued a statement condemning the tragic terrorist attacks in New Zealand and the loss of innocent lives. Events such as this remind us to stand firm in our religious and American principles of pluralism and justice. No political position, no grievance can justify any act of terrorism or indiscriminate loss of life.

American Muslims stand united with the community at large against all forms of bigotry, hatred or marginalization. These kinds of cowardly acts should be strongly rejected and not allowed to flourish in our communities.

We have further beefed up security at the center and we would like to thank Longwood Police and the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office support and their hard work.

“Loss of innocent lives is heartbreaking. our community is grieving for the student that took her life at in Lake Mary and this incident makes it even more difficult” said Dr. Shakil Ahmed Chairman of the American Muslim Community Centers. We ask all our fellow citizens to join us in praying for the victims and the families that were affected by this tragedy. We reject all acts of terrorism, bigotry and hatred. We pray to God Almighty to protect all people from evil and help us become a more united, loving and stronger nation.
